Wal-Mart Canada will open five new Supercentres in Alberta on Sept. 19, bringing the total number of Wal-Mart Supercentres across Canada to 17 by month's end. The stores offer a full line of groceries, including the Your Fresh Market concept, which includes ready-to-eat products such as lasagna, ribs, deli trays and rotisserie chicken, all prepared onsite. They also feature Canadian-produced beef, veal, chicken and pork; specifically, the Alberta Supercentres will sell Paradise Valley free-range pork and Diamond Willow organic beef, produced locally in Wainwright and Pincher Creek, respectively. Wal-Mart Canada plans to have a total of 28 Supercentres open across Canada by early 2008.
